Greetings Fellow CSS Detectives!

I have been trying to solve a particularly interesting case of my own for the last couple of days and have had very little luck thus far.

It appears that Internet Explorer 6 has "misplaced" two of my images (I expect foul play). Here they were in Firefox:

and here is Internet Explorer 6:

Here is the URI to the site in question: http://www.carterdea.com/clients/mdj

As you may or may not notice, I have added Conditional Comments with special CSS for IE 6 & 7 as well as IE7.js [I believe it's called IE8.js now]. None of these have found these missing pictures.

So I ask you, have you seen my images? If so, please reply.

There is a bonus, possibly easier case in the sidebar. Someone in IE has bullied the UL in the lower right of the screen about 10 pixels to the right. It appears an extra margin has appeared for no apparent reason. If you find the cause, please notify the authorities immediately.

Thank you in Advance and best of luck solving this case!

Detective Carter

Detective Carter,

Your images haven't been pinched, they're hiding !
If you set the .box background to transparent, they appear. If you remove the position: relative, the background will stop hiding the images. Easier solution - it's the hasLayout garbage - add zoom: 1; to .box in your IE fixes css file and the images come out of hiding. Or, you could use the good 'ole Holly Hack and give a height: 1%, that'll work too

As for your 2nd problem, it's coming from the 15px of padding on the right side.

Why do you have sidebar set to absolute ? Why not just float it ?

LadyNRed,

Thank you so much! I should have thought of the holly hack. Unfortunately, both height:1% and zoom:1 make my CSS back ground bullet-point icons disappear. Any ideas?

As for the Sidebar positioning, I am using a blue robot layout. I had it floated before, but IE 5.5 was giving me a problem and I found it a pain in the rear.

Well, the bug you are describing is well known, read about it here:
http://www.positioniseverything.net/...e-listbug.html

The fix for it - put position:relative on the UL - bingo, images reappear!
