Please take a look at the two attached images. I've got my current layout and the desired layout (which i did in photoshop). I basically need to position those 3 images the layout. What's the proper way to do it?

Well, I don't see any images, but if you're putting in images and you want text to flow around them, then float the images left or right depending on where you want them.
If you want images to line up horizontally, floating is the preferred method. Just be sure you CLEAR your floats (see stickies).
