i want to encapsulate an area of html that will not follow the format that is fed into it by a css file. in other words, i want to define a section of code that is blocks out all external css commands. i hope this makes sense.

Use an iframe

What exactly are you trying to do ? An iframe would work, but may not be the only solution.
