Hi all
I have a site that has a fixed width centre allignment. All is fine in the several browsers I test in except IE8, which throws up a bizzare rendering problem. The site works fine unless you refresh the page. This causes the whole page to jump to the left throwing out some of the content. If you then click any link to another page and then use the back button the page renders ok.
In the course of trying to correct this I have found that loads of sites do very similar things if you refresh pages in IE8 (try it yourself). Some just move the page to the left and some move it causing several divs to go out of allignment!
I have read all the posts detailing centre alligning but none have cured my problem.
Does anyone know the correct code to stop this happening as it's driving me mad?
cheers
Burnsie

Let's see a URL for the site, for one thing.
Are you using compatibility mode in your pages ? That makes pages render as IE7, which I fail to see the point of, you're using a newer browser but telling it to render like an older and BUGGIER browser ???

Hi
I have managed to fix the centre alignment problem by putting a fixed width on a body element! However, I am still having problems with a couple of divs going out of alignment when the page is refreshed. I have tried just about everything I can think of. It only seems to happen in ie8. Ho hum I will keep trying.

cheers

hi
The site is only a few pages a present. It's at http://www.jdsfinancial.co.uk
If you refresh the page the navigation buttons (top left) are thrown out and the blue bar at the bottom of the page. It only seems to happen in ie8.
