I just can't figure it out! This job has just been a pain in the butt and I can't seem to pinpoint this one last problem!

Just use a conditional tag for ie6 to decrease the width of the box on the left. Right now the create account div is larger in ie for whatever reason so give it a smaller fixed width and the two should float side by side (hopefully).

I just didn't know if their was a more direct way to correct it? It's certainly not a problem to use a hack, but I thought there might be a hackless approach.

Using conditional comments really isn't a hack, by the traditional definition. It's pretty normal, even commonplace and expected, to code a site the correct way for compliant browsers and then force the fixes on IE. Using the way IE incorrectly reads a page to make it behave correctly, using normal code, technically is not a hack: it's poetic justice.

Youre right, I guess guessing which language you used in coding doesn't work because sometimes its all in the layout or which will suit the layout for that layout to work. Hope my advice helps.

There's nothing wrong with using conditional tags, almost all major sites use them as revealed in their source codes. I look forward to a day when Microsoft would make a standard browser so conditional tags would no longer be necessary.

Actually, it's the <form> inside that div that is wider than the div it's sitting inside of. Reduce that form width to fit inside the div and it should work just fine. You won't even need to put that width into a conditional css file, just fix it in the main file. I bumped it down to 22em and everything pulled up.

One other thing I noticed -- you don't have a background color defined for your <body>, so what I see are your backgrounds for the sections sitting on top of a pink background - pink being the color I have set for my desktop backgrounds. Not everyone leaves windows to it's 'default' colors, and I'm not alone

Thanks, LNR. I figured it was some bonehead easy fix that I missed. Also, thank you for the reminder about the body background!
