Hello all, hows it going? I've just started coding for a new website I'm looking to publish soon. I know basic html and understand the basic concepts of C++. I've bought myself php and mysql webdevelopment for dummies. I currently have the design of the homepage of the site, all sliced up and looking as I want it, theres 2 images that are the backgrounds for the 2 boxes/columns i want (unequal sizes0. My problem is that when I try to insert login and password fields in dreamweaver in the right hand column it fills the whole thing white with the fields in random places. Im wanting to make a social networking-like site. Should I use css to make the columns i need to act as transparent layers over the design?

Also how do you go about creating a registration page that will make a profile page for the registered user?

Ive searched but nothing has really come up.

Instead of trying to reinvent the wheel why not start with one of these already written social networking applications and then customize it to meet the needs of your site.

Even if you don't want to use any of the open source applications on the other side of the link above you'll be able to see the code used to develop a registration/login system and other systems you'll need.
