I am having problems figuring out why the drop down menu on my site isn't working correctly in Internet Explorer 6 and 7 (it displays correctly in IE 8 Standards mode)

What is happening is the drop down menus are really narrow and cut off most of the text.

It works correctly in the following browsers:

Mac OS X
Firefox 3.5.4
Safari 4
Google Chrome

Windows
IE 8
Firefox

any help figuring this out would be great

You are up against IE's ugly bugs with relative and absolute positioning and the 'stacking order'. It was corrected in IE8, but not it's predecessors.
