Hi, I am just curious when it is applicable to use CSS in either the embedded form or inline as opposed to in a separate CSS file?

Obviously for things that will be the same site wide it makes sense to make the decelerations in the separate css file but when does it make sense to use embedded or inline?

My preferences :-

Global (site wide) = global "external" file(s)

One page only = local "external" file or emebedded

Single element = embedded or inline.

If you're just starting out with css, you may want to start a list for yourself called "css best practices". In this particular case, the best practice would be an external file (even if you only have 1 page for now.. you have to prepare your site for growth,). Off course as time goes on, your list will grow. Good luck.

Thanks, I guess that makes sense to use it in the way chrishirst mentioned. I think I am going to also make a list of best practices especially if I am trying to design a very large site.
