Hello all,

Ok - Im not that great at CSS, but I am trying to make a vertical CSS menu with popouts.

I would like to have the popouts 'animated' like the superfish menus, but I really have no clue where to start?

I can build a simple vertical menu, but nothing with popouts or anything.

I have tried 'googling' css menus, but most tutorials are either outdated, have issues with IE6 or are not complete.

I really like the menu at 'NavySEALS.com'. Notice the nice, animated transitions and styling. Im assuming I can achieve something like this with superfish menus?

So I am wondering if somebody could please point me in the right direction as to how to get started with these menus.

Id be willing to pay to have a vertical menu built with animations, etc.

Thank you in advance for any help,
-Joe

You can create the 'popouts' with css, but you need javascript for the animation part.

Here's a very short article that may help you get started. If you click the link for the demo I think it's close to what you're looking for. The source code is available for download so you can take it and try to modify it for your site.

If you search more look for dropdown or drop down menus. Also search for flyouts. When your main menu is vertical and the 'popouts' are to the side they're often called flyouts.

I don't know how comfortable you are with javascript, but the jQuery library makes it easy to add lots of different effects to the menu opening and closing.
