I want to avoid putting up only small images because 50% of web users only have screens about 768 to 800 pixels high.

Is there a way to have people see the images full screen, large on large screens, small on small screens?

Or would this better be done in Javascript.

I just want to avoid that tiny square that 1024 x 768 gives on large monitors.

Fullscreen web design is so much better.

PS: I have my current website with a JQuery slideshow. Would this work with a full screen design, too?

Thanks!

That would be troublesome isn't it?

You can try Javascript to detect the screen resolution and call a specific stylesheet. However, that would require you a lot of... images too? Maybe no...

Also, try a fluid width layout? This might work for your slideshow...

Not every body with "large monitors" have their browsers maximised.

The different style sheet approach could work.

Currently I have a window of 1010 x 730 pixels.

That can't be helped. One cannot control everything. Including people with uncalibrated colors and old CRTs.

My point exactly!

Just because the screen is at 1280x800 or higher it doesn't mean the browser window is.

Hi, I'm new here, but I wanted to mention that Chris Coyier posted a really elegant solution for this on CSS-Tricks a while back, you can view the post here. I think that's just what you're looking for!

This only involves the background image.

I need all the windows to be full screen.

I'll probably have to look it up in JQuery and post a question in the Javascript forum.
