I need these tabs to be clickable, but the the logo layer needs to be visible, so I have it's z-index higher than the ul list layer... which then covers the tabs. I can't figure out any solution to this problem, thanks!

-___- You're so helpful. I don't know how to do it any other way, but obviously because the layer is above the other layer it's going to cover it. I basically need to know how to do two background images on a single layer, and be able to control them seperately: such as center top the one layer with no repeat, and then repeat the texture paper background.

Why do you need two backgrounds?

at first glance:
Header element position:relative with repeating background
The logo image could be in a element absolutely positioned and sized to fit the image, transparent backgrounds

the tabs can have a transparent background, positioned: absolute to the bottom of the header and at the top of the stacking order.
