I've looked everywhere for a solution to my problem, and as of yet, I can't seem to find the answer. So I hope I've stumbled across the right place.

I have a personal web page that is mostly comprised of pictures of my daughter. The main page has a block of about 75 thumbnails, all with rollovers (black and white, rollover to full color), click on the thumbnail and it opens a popup window of the full size image. Every time I go to add new pictures, I've had to go through the entire process from start to finish. My question is, can I make a CSS that will save me the trouble of reworking the entire thing every time? I know very little about CSS, so I might be getting in over my head. But if anyone has any suggestions or helpful tips, I would greatly appreciate it. By the way, I'm working with both Dreamweaver and Fireworks.

Or if there's another option that would better suit my needs, please someone tell me what it is.. I may start ripping my hair out soon.

Thanks in advance.

Hi barwench,

Css is perfect for multiple pages and is also pretty easy to learn. I'm a little confused though, it sounds like the part you have to do over again is each popup, is that right? If so are all the popups the same size? If so you could have one instance of the javascript for the popup and link to it with;

<script type='text/javascript' src="yourscriptdirectory/popup.js"></script>

As for the rollover you could do this with css, but if you are using two seperate images, 1 black and white and 1 color, you would still have to repeat the process every time you add one.

If I totally misunderstood the question, rest assured, this is not the first or last time I will do this. Although post again and tell me what I missed, I'll take another stab at it.

Cheers,

Thanks for your reply. Most of the pop ups are the same size, I have a few that are different though. That's not so much the problem, but more the rollovers. I understand that I have to do the same process for each new thumbnail that I add, providing I want it to have a rollover. Maybe I should clarify more here.. I'm starting to confuse myself. I actually have one large image, containing all the thumbnails and rollovers. Each time I add new thumbnails, I have to reset all of the rollovers. I'm wondering if a CSS would allow me to bypass that long step, and just add rollovers to the new thumbnails. I have a feeling I'm overlooking a very simple solution. Sorry if this is even more confusing than my orignal post. Again, any help would be very appreciated.

I would suggest a solution like LightBox for the type of gallery you're working with. It's very easy to implement, very slick, and doesn't require a huge amount of repetitive setup. Also, NO javascript setup required either ! The AJAX (scripting) is all self-contained.
