i would like to space the list items equally on right and left side

the total width of the div which has the list items is 960px i need a border on the right for all the links except the last

how should i space the links which have different widths based on the number of letters for each link so that it looks like the image

should i divide 960 by the amount of padding and the width of each border

Set your <a> inside the list to display:block so the entire area, regardless of the number of letters, is clickable. Then use left and right padding to make your spacing uniform.

If you want it to be at both end i mean left and right corner then you can give float left to item in left and float right to item or div to be on right corner
