I have a few questions about tableless designs...

I am using Firefox when talking about these problems...I know that IE has more problems, but, I want to get the page set in firefox first, and then I will work it for IE...
Here are the problems I am having:
1. The content DIV gets pulled down whenever I put a <p> in...I need to have this <p> is there any way around this? 2. I would like for the navigation DIV to get pulled down according to how many lines are in the content DIV...is this possible since I have the navigation div set to float left?
