Hi there,

So I am building a site for a friend and he's informed me that IE 7 has a very weird thing going on with the "footer" element of the page where it sort of floats on the top of the other elements of the page when being viewed.

Can some kind soul here check it out and perhaps steer me in the right direction?

*note: to my knowledge, the issue is happening in IE6 / 7 only. IE8 is fine.

Anything would be greatly appreciated.
Danka.

I don't have IE 7 to take a look, but you have a few validation errors, fixing those may help.

Okay, so I sort of fixed it, but for some odd reason, the "wrap" tag is not having the background expand to the rest of the page.

Also, why the hell are the "..." not showing up as they should on this page?

If I can just get the background to extend down correctly on the sidebar part I should be done! Help me finish this pls!

Get rid of the height on #wrap
CLEAR your floats!

Hmm, thanks for the reply. Good to see nice people like you still help out on this forum. ...Getting closer I think. Got rid of the height which expanded the color down a little bit, but not to edge of the footer like it should.

I'm a little stumped to be honest.

Also, I think the floats I have on the page are cleared... Are you seeing something different?

The floats inside #wrap are NOT cleared. Using clear:both ON #wrap only clears floats ABOVE #wrap, not within it. Try overflow: auto; on #wrap. Read our stickies on how to clear floats.

Getting closer! Now, when I put the overflow: auto the wrap extends below the footer-bottom. Hmm... I'll try to mess with the closing </div> for wrap so that doesn't happen, but when I do so it breaks the layout in IE7. Gah!

I've cleared wrap, on "footer-bottom", so that's why I thought that everything was sorted out for the cleared floats.

Update: Figured it out - cleared footer-bottom, and a correct placement of the </div> so things should be good now!

Thanks for the help!
