I have created a template and it looks beautiful in firefox. Unfortunately it doesn't look as good in IE. I'm not sure how to get it to look good in both browsers. Is there a way to switch css templates for certain browsers, or are there certain tricks to use to get it to look good in both browsers?

My problem is margins. I would post my site link but unfortunately I dont have 10 posts.

You could just post your site address without making it a link, i.e.

www yourdomain com /whatever

There is never a simple solution or any step-by-step solutions to get your site to look good in all browsers. The best tip I can give you is to follow the standard, which will in most cases make the site look good and at least almost the same in most browsers, IE being the obvious exception of course Then there are usually some tricks to apply to correct small things in IE.

You should start by validating your site and correct the errors, http://validator.w3.org/

Oh, and another tip. When you do follow the standard your site will likely be acceptable to look at in all browser, evan though some things may be a couple of pixles off in some places. The "risk" that some random user will find your site and open it in two or more different browsers to compare, is very unlikely. And so the user won't notice anything odd about it and you won't really have to care, unless of course you are very picky like some people are, and want it to be pixel perfect

This just made it more confusing. I hardly understand what it wants me to fix. I have tried to fix some, but now it looks horrible on both IE and Firefox. >_> At least they look the same I suppose.. -_-

Well, as you can see. The buttons need moved up, the picture and side bar need moved down or the hr line needs moved up, the contact information needs moved up, and the bottom links need to be centered. All which I can do in firefox but not IE. I have both IE and Firefox looking the same now, though. but I cant move anything up or center the bottom links, I normally would have used negative margins but they only work in firefox and not IE, and the align="center" html tag but since the bottom links are a table I can't use that tag, I guess. Any ideas?

I'm still talking about this website so you know:

You can't see the buttons completely because the table they are in is 34px high, but you've set the height of the cantaining div to 23px.

To center an element with a fixed width (like a table, or a div with a set width attribute) you can use automatic margin horizontally, as in "margin: 0 auto;"

Because your menu background is 23px high and set to no-repeat, whereas the menus actual height is 34px. So, what you're seing is not a border, but the background color from the body since the menu has no background of it's own covering that area.

Always use a STRICT DOCTYPE, it this case u wont have issues with the colors. Browsers will behave the same way according to the w3c standard

HAH! If ONLY they did! IE being the glaring exception of course. You don't have to have a STRICT doctype, but you DO need to have the doctype, but transitional and loose are,IMO, quite pointless. Using STRICT enforces clean coding, which is better all around.
