margin: 0 auto;

Does the above mean text will start at 0 pixels from the left but what does auto stand for? What are some examples of what I can change auto to?

Thanks

When applied to the body or a wrapper div, this simply centers the content horizontally on the page. 0 applies to top and bottom, auto to left and right. It can also center individual elements within a div, but 0 does not mean 0px.

This will explain it in greater detail.

I think you're looking for padding, see here: http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_padding.asp

the margin attribute can be used inside or outside of DIV's
Incorrect.

A margin PROPERTY applies to the outer edges of the border area in the box model, it does not affect the 'inside' of the box.
