When I scroll the background image (which is CSS background-position-fixed) flickers like the browser is trying to re-render it dynamically.

Anyone experienced anything like this in Opera (vers 11.51)?

It creates a kind of funky disco strobe effect.
Unwanted though.

Sounds like the image it too big (DPI/resolution) or not being cached.

The browsers HAVE to re-render the image pixel by pixel on each movement, (the underlying OS method is paint()) and if the image is complex, it takes time to recalculate all the pixels.

Only happens in Opera though.

Every other browser (including IE) doesnt have that effect.

Surprising since Opera is considered one of the more cutting edge browsers.

Perhaps in this case it also has one of the more cutting edge bugs

Not every browser developer use the same rendering/layout engine.

IE are currently using the "Trident" engine, Firefox ues the Gecko" engine while Opera use their proprietary engine called "Presto".

So as Mattius says "cutting edge bugs"
