Hi There, been searching high and low, just want to have it so that the menu on this site does not have the dots in front of the first item. Only trouble is that it's currently done in PHP.

Is there a way to do this in CSS so that there is a dot between each menu item BUT the first one??

Sure, several, but the easiest would just be to give a class name to the first item with a .classname{list-style-type:none;}. Then the others just get the default bullet if it's a <ul>.

hhmmmmmmmmm

Still can't get this to work... can you please possibly provide a quick example. I've not seen anyone successfully do this which is why it's driving me nuts.

Thanks!

why not use the :before or :after directives?

Supported in IE8 upwards.

Forgot to add you can combine that with first-child or last-child selectors.

Or the way you have it coded now, just take the &bull; off the first one.

Hi Chris and Tim... thanks for the replies, yeah the only trouble is that the menu is coded dynamically. Otherwise, yeah I would definitely just remove the first bull.

Will try out Chris' suggestion... Feel like I know everything there basically is to know about css then get schooled
