Since up until now, I haven't seen any support for this issue, I'm going to start it here in the hopes that 1) I can get the answer to my problem and 2) I can make others aware of the issue.
This invoice/web page is meant to be sent via email to whoever fills out the registration form for the conference mentioned in the site.
Now here's the messed up part...it's fine in both IE and Firefox, it validates (with a few minor warnings for CSS that aren't of consequence).
But try to email that page, especially to a web-based client, and the layout almost inevitably gets destroyed.
So...the question is twofold: why does this occur (besides the probability that most email clients don't support XHTML), and how the hell do I fix it? Thanks.
The stupid thing is that the template was used for a group email out (double opt-in, before anyone gets all uppity about spam) and it worked swimmingly. If it can email through a group mailer with the same template, why can't it email the page?
When I originally selected send page by email in IE, outlook was displaying it flawlessly. Somewhere in the process I think Outlook was distroying the markup.
