Firefox Rendering Quirk - Text Jumps Around

Hi - I'm hoping someone can help me out a little with this issue.

Here's the website: BayFirst Solutions LLC | Services Overview.

If you're using Firefox, you'll notice that the main body text will jump between two places (its proper position, and an incorrect position below the menu bar) every time you reload. Just try reloading 10-20 times and you'll see it jump back and forth.

This behavior does not happen in IE or Safari. Only Firefox. Any idea why? The HTML and CSS validates according to WC3. Thanks!

P.S. This behavior replicates itself across each one of the section pages (accessible via that blue navigation area in upper-left).

What version of Firefox are you using ? I'm looking at it with FF 1.5.0.6 and I don't see anything jumping around.

***well.. maybe I see the problem, the left-side menu on the home page is different from the rest of the pages.

Keep reloading...a lot and you'll see the body text move between two positions. Shift-reload if needed. Thanks

I don't know that anyone would actually DO that.
However, I suspect it may have something to do with all those spacer gif's you've got in there. If you're using CSS properly there is absolutely no need for spacer gifs, those for tables. Use your CSS to space things where you want them.

You can create your nav menu using an unordered list and images. You can space out the list items to put them where you want them on the bg.

Same goes for all those <br>s .. get rid of them and use your CSS to space out your paragraph text.

Well -- for other people, the text shows up in the wrong place most of the time. For others, the text shows up right at one time, and wrong at a different time. Basically, it's inconsistent behavior. The only consistent thing is that it only occurs with Firefox.

Do you think the <br> and spacers are causing the problem here?

There are very few bugs in Firefox as far as the rendering engine is concerned.
With all those spacers, everytime you reload, it has to download the spacer gif again, and resize it per the code, and do that for every spacer gif. Variations in other people's ISP and speed could account for the varying views. I could not make it happen no matter how many times I forced a reload.

If it were me, I'd start by eliminating all those spacers first and see if that fixes it.

You could also go over to mozilla.org and to their forums and see if anyone else has reported this as a bug.

Okay...I guess I will try it. I think if you try the Careers page at BayFirst Solutions LLC | Careers it'll be more apparent but I'm not sure why.

Thanks for the tip!
