What is the best method for vertical aligning within a div? I want an embedded swf to be perfectly centered in the browser.

There is no 'VALIGN' in CSS, meaning you'll have to vertically align divs another way.

You have to adjust your padding to vertically align... As far as I know anyways.

yeah padding will do, if you only need to move the SWF or whatever you are trying to center you dont have to set all 4 sides padding you can use padding-top:50px this will push your element 50Px's up and if its a n image you can still use vertical-align:top but this would inflict with Srtict xhtml
