There's no one way really. It depends a lot on your particlular layout. I used to use absolute and relative positioning more, but now I prefer to work more with floats. I've always used margins for a lot of things.

I think one of the tricks in a css layout is understanding when you don't need to use positioning or floats and when adding margin or padding will do the trick.

There is more than one way to do things with css and the choice of how to position a given page element really depends on the overall layout and how you've set up some of the other page elements.

Sorry I can't be more definitive. If you have a specific layout in mind I can probably offer more suggestions.

Thanks... i only thought that top & left were options. I didn't realize you could also use right.

Is there a reference anywhere that I can find ALL of the possible options in CSS - and what they do??

I'll echo what Chip said LadynRed. You do share a lot of very useful links. I thought I had a ton already, but you keep giving me more to bookmark. One of these months I may even have to go through all my bookmarks and organize them better. They've gotten out of control and are becoming hard to find.

If you're going to organize your bookmarks you gotta go Del.icio.us.

Its the only way to go. Well one of the only ways to go. I go through computers too often to rely on Bookmarks/Favorites. About a year ago I started using delicious.

They have a neat feature you can add to your toolbar. It's a js link that takes you right to your delicious page. Two links actually. The first takes you to your account. The second adds the current page that you are on to your list.

You can search your bookmarks by tags (personally assigned keyords.)

If you haven't tried it you have too!

There are other bookmark sites out there but I haven't tride any of them.

I'm sure the next post is going to be by LadynRed with the most awesome link to another online bookmark site,,

You know other than the potential marketing possibilites I have no interest in storing my bookmarks online. It always seemed to me like sharing a lot of information about myself with someone I don't know at all. I realize I can keep other users from seeing them (at least I think I can), but you could build one rather large and detailed profile about me based on my bookmarks and I don't really want that information stored on someone else's computer.

The handful of sites I most commonly frequent I can easily remember. I do use a bookmark to get her for example, but I don't really need one if I'm on another computer.

I use Firefox to organize my bookmarks and it offers some pretty good control and really quick access. I just need to organize things better and set it up more for the way my interests have grown.

Nothing against anyone who does use a socical bookmarking site, but I prefer to manage mine locally.
