Left alignment issues.

Hello all,

I seem to be having a strange situation and I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong on my website.

The problem is is that the alignment on the left side of my "Content" section doesn't line up properly.

For example, check this page: http://members.shaw.ca/X-FSS/

The first paragraph is fine, but follow the left edge of the second paragraph. After the line "Vestibulum ...", the left alignment moves to the left a little.

The same situation occurs on this page, http://members.shaw.ca/X-FSS/fun_stu...s/alabama.html at the same point in the page.

Any advice or help on this is greatly appreciated,
Thanx,
ziggy

Wow... That's weird.

I doubt this will fix it but try to add text-align:justify; to #newsHolder.

I might not be the look your going for but just see if it straightens out at all.

It's not weird -- it's another IE bug, called the 3-pixel text jog bug. Your left nav box ends just at that point, making all the text in the main content area that comes AFTER the nav box to go back over 3 px.

The solution : put a height:1%; on the paragraphs inside your main content area. Problem goes away.

Hello all,

Thanx for the quick replies, I'm surprised at how quickly someone came to the rescue, namely "LadynRed" for the link to some interesting info.

I tried the height: 1%; on the "Content" section and it straightened right out. Actually, I even used a height: 0%; and it still worked, go figure.

At least now I don't have to redo my website layout, 100+ pages worth, with this little fix.

Once again, thanx a lot guys/gals!!!
Cheers,
ziggy

It's just another of the many, many bugs we designers have been banging our heads against for years with rotten IE. I like Ben Henick's analogy -- fighting bugs in IE is like playing a game of Whack-a-mole - you no sooner kill one than another pops up .. you whack again !
