I think with the spiffy corners you'll be able to change the width of your elements and have the corners adjust easily enough. I remember reading another article that improved upon the spiffy corners a little, but I can't seem to find it and probably never bookmarked the page.
You might be able to find it searchng for spiffly corners since I think they used the spiffy name in the title of the article and throughout the copy. If I can find it again I'll post that link as well.
I was really hoping the border-radius property would work with IE7, but I don't think it does. So much easier to just add a line of code instead of having to deal with getting the images in there.
