heya all, i been reading from some books i got "reccomended by lady rend "
and i made a blog, can you tell me if the coding is good or not, it does what i want it to etc but you guys are like experts so nice to have your opinion

honestly you did a heck of a job on this the coding is super clean you did a great job with the html and the CSS I will say though you should look into some php or asp if you're trying to make an easily usable blog but if you're doing it just for the knowledge if you're after html and php you're on the right track.

I am very impressed looking at the site when I read there that you reading from books I was expecting a very basic "bad" site. The colors work even though I don't like orange the scheme is good. The rounded corners add to the site.

all around 8/10 just because of the usability (meaning you have to know html to add another entry to it) but very nice all the same keep it up.

thankyou very much blackhawkpowers, i appreciate your help. I am learning html/CSS, "css more" because css is so flexable and its pretty easy to understand with the right help and motivation. I am all self taught from books, and tutorials, the internet has helped me a great deal, so has this forum and the people on it, so my hat is off to them .

and yes i am looking into learning PHP next, im not 100% sure what ASP is i think its like promoting your website on search sites or somthing, but im not sure, i want a job in web design. my design skills are alright, i could learn alot more with the right help etc, my html isnt bad, and my css is getting better too, but i am not sure what i need to be a "web designer" as all web designers can do html and css. its there other skills like php, and ASP, and MyqSl that make them uniqe and more effective than someone who just knows the basics. any advice and tips are welcome.

asp is active server page it's just another server side programming language just like php... I prefer php mostly because that's just what I learned but both appear to be equivalent to one another. both are great assets once you learn them you're absolutely right.. Good luck you're definitely on the right track so keep it up.

hey, i'm an average poster and a web design novice as well, so i don't know if my opinion counts for much, but this design is great.

when I first started it took me forever to try and figure out how to do rounded corners and the method i'm still using is rather annoying. i loved the simplicity of using the header, footer, and body images. it's so simple and repeating the middle background can handle any page length. may i ask what resources you are using? maybe they'll help me along the way as well... either way you've picked up some cool tricks and you're using them really well.

if you're still interested in learning more about css, i found csszengarden.com and their book, Zen of Css Design very helpful. It's basically full of case studies on specific designs so you get an in depth explanation of complex designs.

i also just got into php and from what i've seen it's a great tool. the php section on this forum is a great help. I highly recommend using php, especially if you are going to keep up with your blog.

but, i think your first attempt is great and i might use it for inspiration.
