hi guys, i posted this question on another section of the board. then i realized that there is a specific css board. so, here you go...

I have a two part question. I am building a website for an organization. the site needs to be 508 and accesability compliant. I am using the Multiflex 21 template found on the Internet http://www.openwebdesign.org/design/2876/MultiFlex21/ the site is a fixed width template.

question 1-
how do i change the template to a fluid page? I know i should use percentages in the widths but there are so many divs inside of the main one and i don't know if i need to change all the widths within the document to % as well. or, does changing the width of the main container do the trick? I did that but the page does not look right.

question 2-
since i want the users to change the size of the font (I'll download a script from the Internet) does the design need to be fluid to accomodate the varying font sizes?

thanks. any ideas are appreciated.

itzelm: the design doesn't need to be fluid in and of itself. The only thing you need to do is make sure your font size is set in terms of percentages or ems (I prefer percentages, but to each their own).

As far as using that template goes...don't. That thing is a mess, much as most templates are. You're much better off coding something from scratch, even if you don't know it, and building it the way you want.

Well, some layouts will break when you enlarge the fonts, so to some degree you DO need to use percentages for div widths.

I've used that Multiflex template. It's pretty good, actually - once you clean out the creators mess of unnecessary code. The first time I looked at one of that guy's templates I was horrified, but I cleaned it out and it works well.

thanks for the feedback.

I'm not a coder so I probably would not know how to clean up the code. I've probably added more code mess to it. :-)

Is there a particular strategy to clean up the code? What should I look for through my inexperienced eyes?

Thanks
