How do u edit the drop down menu style using a CSS. I tried using

dropdown {
color: #FF0000;
}

and gave the dropdown the calss "dropdown" but it didnt make it red.

Without seeing the rest of your html/css, the only thing I can say is that if your class is dropdown, then your rule should read:

.dropdown {
color: #ff0000;
}

Don't forget the '.'

You have very few options for styling form elements, they're fairly inflexible.
