I use both GoDaddy and Namecheap. Namecheap has slightly cheaper domains and much cheaper whois privacy (if you are into that). I prefer Namecheap's interface over GoDaddy's; it's really easy to change domain settings, and you don't have to wait as long for most settings to change.
I have not had a problem with either company.
By the way, Namecheap isn't really a registrar, it is an Enom reseller. (Enom is the registrar.) It's not really important though from the domain-buying point of view, but it may explain why some people may not have heard of them.
