Registering for more than one year is the advice I am increasingly getting.

If you register just for a year and forget to renew, you may have to buy back your from domain squatter for mega money.

Even if you have trademarked your name, you could run into problems.

Just remember when it's been regged, or create an excel file with everything in and check it every month.

A lot of names you might want to drop.

If you have a good traffic to your site within the first year or if you want to keep a particular domain for yourself for long - many years registration or renewal is highly advisable. If you could add private registration at the same cheap rates from any registrars - that will be a value added.

Some registrars offer good discounts to register or renewal domain name for 2 plus years, that could be worth if you;re going to continue with your domain name.

Just use auto-renew if you don't think you'll remember, I'm sure they'll contact you as well just before your domain expires. Don't forget, many believe in the theory that domains registered for longer periods of time have better SEO weight, again it's just a theory, but it's a sound one.
