.org is for nonprofits. .biz and .us are more niche TLD's. If you are starting a business try and get a domain on .net or .com or .net or .com within a particular country tld.

I take it your business is web design? If so come up with something unique to you - you dont need to force the word designer into it.

Hi Gafadi

Personally, I would go for the .com extension every time for the simple reason that most people type that in their browsers automatically. If you had for example webdesigner.org and someone had already visited your site, hadn't bookmarked it and decided to go back, they could easily type in webdesigner.com (automatically) and get a completely different website. You end up losing out then.

Yeah, if it's commercial, go for a dotcom with a different name. Although .net and .org are more accepted for 'anything' nowadays (used to be reserved for internet services and nonprofit before).

I think they are nice for a website but I am not crazy over them just being domain names.

.org was never reserved for non profit sites, it is perfectly acceptable to run a commercial site on a .org not that people are following any moral rules of which tld is supposed to be used for what purpose.

HireDesigners.org is pretty good imo. Excellent name for a directory of designers.

There actually pretty good site addresses, not very original but I m surprised the .org one is still around. I m with the others try get a .com but if u can't or you must have hiredesigners grab the org.
