Hi Guys and gals

i am new to web design! I have a website for a certain area.

I would like to expand my business to another area, I would prefer to have a seperate website for this rather than adding another page.

If i added a sub domain, for example for gloucestershire

my-site-4u123456.co.uk/gloucestershire

would this be a sub domain?
could this domain be an independent site from my-site-4u123456.co.uk
could it be submitted to google and other engines?
would it be abled to be optimised the same as first site?

I said i was new to web design!

regards Bluesardine

Sure
It can be anything you want really, it all just depends on what you put there.

I think what you were asking is " are they treated as a seperate site"?

My understanding is that a subdomain is considered a completely different site by the search engines. For sure I see a lot of them where the topic is different than the main site.
