The short of it is Verisign is raising the cost of registration by 7% (The max it's allowed to per year), so hurry up and buy your domains now! Registrars will probably be jacking up prices soon to make up for their increased cost.

Well, it's only $.50 / domain, but if you purchase alot of them, or have a very very small budget... you might feel it just a bit.

I have a very small budget. This is really a heavy burden to me. I have to consider to combine two websites into one, or simply shut down one website.

I don't think this will affect customers so much having in mind it is just a small percentage.

i dont really understand domain pricing, they sell .in for less than 2$ but renewal cost is 21$ !!!

Exactly, same for .info, costs $2.45 and renewal will be $7.95...

I remember when Domains used to be 70 dollars apiece. I think I can handle where they are now and a 7% increase a year

Yeah when you think about how little they really cost compared to other costs like hosting its really very little, 10 bucks or whatever for an entire year.

Ten bucks normal price. If you use a coupon you can still get them for $7 at Godaddy if you buy a few.

Prices always rise, what i'm curious about is when a domain comes up for renewal, if you have boosted traffic to it over years, do they increase the domain cost as a result of the traffic it gets.

Nope. There isn't an increase because of traffic. Just standard renewal price.

Yeah, seems to be in heavy demand and ICANN wants to make money off of the sales. Just a few months ago, Namecheap went from $8.88/domain to $9.29. I guess it's bound to happen again and again and again.

Exactly.

It's funny how people whine about a few cents these days when domains used to cost 10x more several years ago. If people have to scrounge for loose change from their couch cushions to buy a domain name, maybe they shouldn't be buying them in the first place. I'd also like to add that I have absolutely no sympathy for the large bulk domain resellers.
