For those behind the news, one of the most popular domain sales/purchases, discussion forums on the net dnforum.com was hacked today by 16-year old Iranian. The site is down and all the 33k+ members are still waiting to see what happens!

I'm half Iranian, but I'm 17 so it couldnt have been me.

Wow... before you know it there will be 13 year olds doin it.

That sucks for them, they probably had a recent backup though.

apparently according to rumors there was no back up at all and now the site owner Adam has to be complacent to the demands of the perpetrator of the act including deletion of sertain sections. It is such a sad situation IMHO

Wait what? So the hacker wants certain parts deleted or he won't back it up? And how can you not back up such a huge forum?

That would of been the first thing I stopped.

Looks like it is fixed now.

I had a few sites hacked a week or so ago, using a buggy freeware upload script they gained access to all sites that were hosted on the same box.

Luckily it was a test hosting account and nothing too serious was done

I feel for them. Hope they have a backup or something...

well, I do 90% of all my acquisitions and sales with DNforum members. I am happy the Forum is back but certain parts have been deleted in order to meet the demands of the hacker!

No one to blame but himself.

No backups? I mean cmon..

is there any thread explaining what happened and what was deleted.

My site Forum-Forum.com was hacked about 3 years or so ago. My host claimed they were making regular weekly/daily backups. I contacted them as soon as it happened, and got the run around for a week, finally they said they dont have a non-compramised backup available. That was basically the end of my 4.2k member forum I had worked hard on.

My site was hacked by iraqi political hackers. I have never supported the war and am against it, my site wasnt even remotely political either.

Please check the dates on threads you are posting in.
