Recently acquired it and I was about to start a design contest for the logo then realized I need to give the designers a "vision" of the branding style I'm looking for.


So if you had the domain BlogBookmark.com what would you do with it? What type of service or site would you build?

I was thinking of doing the obvious which would be to start a social bookmarking site -OR- just do a web directory. But I have learned from past experiences that the greatest sites and new startups are the ones that are unique. I could install phpLD or pligg but how unique could that be?

Then again I could take either of those systems and customize it with new and better features and a professional design.

I mean a blog social bookmarking site is already done (blogmarks, technorati etc.) but that doesn't mean I can't do that and still be unique. I just have to do it better than they do.

What would you do?

I would try to do something unique with it. I'm not sure what that is because it would take a lot of time and thought, but it's a great name and I think worth putting some innovation into .

I would do the following

firstly instead of competing against the other social bookmarking sites, which lets face it that is going to be pretty hard to do, i would make the site compliment them.

Front page would be most popular articles from say the top 10 social bookmarking sites.

This in its self would be great, a one top shop! and dynamic content!

Visitors could join and then i would offer features that monitor the top 100 (yep 100 sites) sites articles for keywords.

for example if a visitor was only interested in SEO the site would just track articles that had the the keyword SEO you could then have the user set this as there personal start page, also the visitor could get email alerts or monitor via Rss .... hmm wanna sell me the domain only joking

a toolbar, that you can search for blogs with, along with a site, if you use my idea i want a 10% share of what you earn

I would create a script that blog owners can submit their favourite sites to their account and put abit of code into their blog which displays their top 5 bookmarks, you could then track everyones top 5 bookmarks and rank them sites and create a sort of league "Most bookmarked site by our users" etc.

hm maybe a blog topsite or something.

featuring top blogs in diff topics of writing
like health,tech n etc.

I like the idea of a social bookmarking site better than a directory.
