No, the most popular (read: valuable) are generics that receive targeted type-in traffic.
4-letter.com's got big because a.) all the 3-letter .com's were taken, b.) 4 letter pronounceable domains, usually consonant-vowel-consonant-vowel, are very brandable and became popular in the web2.0 community
All the CVCV.com's are taken now anyway, though they do come up for sale relatively often. Not my cup of tea personally, but lots of people love 'em.

It all depends on your goals... if you're looking to develop a site and fill it with quality content it won't really matter if your domain name has 4 or 5 letters in it. You want something memorable for sure, though. I'd rather have a 5 letter pronounceable domain than a four letter domain made up of j,x,z,q,v, and letters like that. Above all though, I'd like a generic one word domain that gets lots of type in traffic... anyone have one of those?
I got very confuse about these three letters and four letters domain etc.I would like to know more about these domains so that i could have proper knowledge about it and could purchase a suitable domain for my web site.
