Yes. But it depends on what you consider "decent", which I imagine would be dictated in large part by your niche/industry.

I've got my eyes on a name right now, 2 words + .com, the phrase itself gets about 5-6k searches/mo and it's under $1,000. If someone were able to capture the majority of this traffic and convert 1% of it to leads for the market it involves, they'd recoup their investment the first month they reach peak traffic. Only reason I haven't bought it yet is because I'm not sure if it's worth the time.

Have some names in mind and set out to acquire them. Start with the whois records.

Decent? It all depends on what your looking for.

If you are looking to please brandiblity then you need to pay a little $.

If you are looking to please search engines then try a .us or a hyphen every once in a while.

What do you mean by decent?

Do you mean domains that will have type-in traffic on day one? Nope those are pretty much all gone.

But every other kind of "decent" there are still plenty of available. Decent as far as potential keyword-based SEO, yep plenty available. Decent as far as potential brandability, yep plenty available. Decent as far as short and easy to remember, yep plenty available.

I newly registered (at godaddy) mygamespace.ws less than a month ago. I thought that was a great find. Truly, though, the best domain you can get is one that you build value into yourself. Ever hear of mytube.com or ourtube.com or wetube.com? Nope. So why did youtube sell for a billion in google stock? Because of the site itself, its membership and defensible traffic. The domain is secondary, and that is true most of the time these days. Of course, you don't want something horrendous like ht8eq0yt0.com, but as long as the domain is DECENT, from there it's basically up to you to make it worth something.

I think there are domains out there that are solid depending on what you are looking for. I just bought a solid domain for a new project for $400. You just have to shop extra hard these days.

I am sure there are plenty. There are always new products and new hobbies and interests and such. Also, if your site does something unique and new, you can have a brand name and not worry about search traffic if your website is viral enough.

Recently purchased RoomDiffuser.com and LampDiffuser.com

Not going to make anyone millions, but would make nice affiliate product sites

There are plenty of decent domains left out there, it's just a matter of using your creativity to piece the right combinations together.

I don't think so there are any one word domains still left. But one can surely discover some decent 2-word domains.

Like others have stated, it all depends on what you see as decent. Do you want a domain to flip for a decent profit? There is still plenty of those... even some that are still unregistered, you just have to study the market and then develop and trust your instincts. Are you looking for an unregistered name you can sell for $xxx, xxx? Good luck, those days are probably long gone.

As far as development goes, there are some nice names available - both registered and unregistered - that lend themselves to development very well.

Good luck in your hunt,
Mark
