Hello everyone,

I have been searching the net and this forum for answers but can't find some simple explanation to my problem.

I already have a website on myfirstdomain.com

I have a second website that I put in an other folder, it is now reachable on myfirstdomain.com/website2

I have just bought myseconddomain.com, how can I have it redirected to my second website?

The company I have registered the domain with only allow me to change the DNS, not to redirect it.

Thank you for your help.

The dns are just a registry to indicate on which server are the files located.
Then, it's the task of the web server to serve the content depending of the domain the browser asks for.

This means that your hosting server (in the panel, usually), you have to declare that a certain directory in your files tree is the root of myseconddomain.com.

This all depend of your first hoster in that case.

go to cpanel and add your second website. A sub-folder off the public_html folder will be created. Cahnge your dns settings for the second website( this can take a few days to filter through) and then off you go.
Your host should be able to help you with this
regards and good luck

At registrar level, you just buy the domain names and point them (nameservers) to the server where your account is hosted.

The company where you are hosting your account (files, email address, databases, etc) will provide you with a URL, a username and a password to access your control panel.

Once there, just go to the Domain area and add the second domain as a parked domain or as an alias (depending on the control panel).

Further questions?

Most hosts turn the feature off but the default install of cPanel requires that the namesevers be pointed to the correct IP and filtered down to the zone level before you can create an addon domain. You may want to ask your host to save needless frustration.

Real world terms that means change the NS and wait 3 days before creating the addon. I have only been caught in this trap once in 10 years so like I said most hosts turn it off.
