301 redirection using .htaccess ....i purchased a website and dont really think the domain name is going to take off i need to change it ,is there an easier way than 301 redirect ? the site is in a shared hosting and cant find an option to point the new domain name to the new site ,i can see an option to point it at the principal hosting domain tho....

That will result in duplicate content in the search engines which is no good. 301 redirect via the .htaccess file is the way IMO. It's not that complicated for what you're trying to do. http://www.tamingthebeast.net/articl...1-redirect.htm should be a helpful read.
