Hello! I got email from EuroDNS.com today:

Tomorrow at 15:00 UTC, the .ME registry will start its Open Registration period, during which domain names will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on www.eurodns.com.

During the General Registration (Go Live!), the registry awards the .ME domain name to the first person who submits the domain. The applications made before the 17th July have been queued and will only be taken into account on the first day of the Go Live.

The registry notes that, “in preparation, we will be completely closed from July 16th at 17:00 UTC until Open Registration begins on July 17 at 15:00 UTC. During that closed period we will not be available via EPP or Web Admin Tool; the WHOIS will remain online throughout. Firewall change requests will not be accepted until July 18 at 15:00 UTC, and will then require the standard 1-2 business days for processing”.

I don't think it might change the internet, in a small way. But I don't think people are going to substitute .ME domains for .COMS

Not to say that it wont have an affect on everybody else's SEO, perhaps.

That might be quite interested extension. But need to find out good names...

Give us, folks, some time to get accustomed to this .me idea. Before, .net, .info, and .org are overlooked or forgotten but they have slowly gained awareness.

I ended up purchasing a few .ME's after making that last statement.

Time will tell if it'll actually mean anything (probably not), but whether it affects SEO or not (depending on whatever Search Engine wants to monopolize it, or popularize it: who is to say?)

They might actually gives these a little more weight than other TLD's, for all we know.

So I picked up a few just in case, and we'll see what a few more years brings.

i've just bought a cupple of 3 letter.me domains to see if they will gather any value soon, i quite like them :-)
