Looking to register my first .com domain.
I run a website for a hobby, not through a company, as an individual and was wondering whether my home address would be displayed upon the registration of this .com domain.

Registration will be from 123-reg. But for obvious reasons i do not want my home address visible to all of the world.

When you register a domain you can get Privacy added, usually it costs an extra $8-$10. This will show the privacy company info and not your own.
Something like this

There are some registrars that provide free privacy. 1and1, Netfirms and NameCheap (for the first year) come to mind.

Once you pick a domain and get to the cart where you pick 1 year or 2. You should see 3 options, no privacy, Deluxe, or Protected. It explains them all.. Here is a screen shot of what you should be looking for

As far as I know several domain name registars do that for free.
Anyway be sure once you do something wrong you will be found for sure, because domain name registar keep all your information

Sorry to sound stupid, but does this step come up after i have entered the registration information. I.e. my name and address.

I don't intend to break the law or any terms and conditions of godaddy or domainsbyproxy. so being known to godaddy and domainsbyproxy is not a problem at all. It is simply a privacy issue, which i am sure TheHosted will agree.

Make the domain registration private so that your information is hidden on whois search..
