You need to look at your own browsing habits and methods when you are looking at potential ideas.
How often do you mistype something, land on a domain parking page, MFA site etc and leave very quickly?
IF you go down the "domaining" route of gaining revenue you have to be prepared to do it properly.
By all means try the mis-spelling, type in traffic methods, BUT you have to be able to develop the site to utilise the traffic. It will have to be a site that can stand on it's own merit regardless of how the visitor got there. Do that and you might be able to convert some of them BUT the conversion ratio will be abysmally low. And of course give them a "Where you looking for ..........? Click Here" option. IF the site is simply a bunch of adverts .... forget it!
It's the same when buying expired domains and hoping to leech off the previous traffic (if any).
When you bring it down to basics, and no matter what you do, Make the site the best it can be for USERS and there will be some element of success, look at it merely as a vehicle to "make money" and you will be less than impressed at the results.
