I performed a quick search.... trying to find statistics on the matter, but couldn't find any. I personally used to make the typo at least once a week. Always too much in a hurry.
I can think of people who would make the same mistake... (hmm my mom, my dad...! :P ...)
Now, I usually only write the domain name without the www. and .com and then press CTRL-ENTER which automatically adds both of them....... (in IE and Chrome that is)
