I contacted the owner of a domain (which is currently blank) about purchasing it. He says he's received numerous offers throught the years (I found he has had the domain since the mid 1990s) but has not been interested in selling it.

The site websiteoutlook.com says it should be worth about 580$, though after browsing these forums, I understand that this is probably unreliable.

My question is: how much do unused, relatively untrafficed (<200 page views/day) domains go for? This is a one (english) word, ".com" domain, which I understand is desirable, but it is an obscure word.

Any suggestions? Maybe a $ range that I should expect? Obviously I am new to the game, so any info would help.

I suppose if he is not intersted right now - nothing can be done. Probably a good idea follow up and keep asking. Probably once he will be interested.

Offer him a double price if you are so interested

odds are if it is a semi decent english word it will be worth quite a bit. If he is getting a lot of offers I will assume it is a good domain. He probably gets hit regularly with lowball offers. I recommend that if you are seriously interested in purchasing this domain you should make him a serious offer of what you are willing to pay.

Perhaps if you really want the particular word for a domain you should consider a lesser exension.

I'd try to get the other extensions and spend the saving on some SEO efforts. If his site is parked you can easily rank better than him unless you only want type in traffic. Depends on the word really.

Those names are probably worth high numbers! Make him a good offer and see what he says!

Maybe you can use domain broker like SEDO. SEDO will appraise that domain and will contact you about the reality price

True.. We can always creatively come up with a better domain name without spending too much money.
