Hello,
I have registered a domain name for a new web design company that I will start.

The domain name is not a .com or .net but it's the one of my country of residence.

I'm planning to have clients from all over the world so my question is:
Should I register a .com domain name or would the local domain name work fine?

Another reason why I am asking this question is that the local domain which I have registered is a cool one in my opinion, but the same .com domain is already registered. So I wonder if I should stick with that local domain for my international company or find a new .com one.

It doesn't matter in the slightest.

Personally I would recommend a non geo domain if you are targeting the world. As you never know what search engines will do in the future. I think country domains will get a nice boost in their country, but not so much outside of it.

I'd get a .com if it was me.

That is recommended to have site mirrors with the TLD. That is not what you must to do that is recommended if you would like appear as the serious player

That is good when you have TLD domain name and start with the local name. I assume soon you will add other TLD domain name and have a couple. But I assume that would be better to register that now

any domain name for the world is not an issue..you need to do perfect SEO for your new designing business..

As your site is related to business..I suggest to always register .COM TLD domain name..so it will give more value to your site..

Well. Good domain name is always good start. I agree that content is the king but in any case having good domain name that is good idea.

If you really start your business and focus all over the world then you should go with a TLD of .com or .net domain. CCTLD domain is also good but it is restricted upto some visitors I guess.

Hi,

Local domain name can be effective is some one select option in google or yahoo for search in specific country only but i dont think any one would set preference like this.

And .com is treated as commercial site thats why is beneficial than other.

I aggree with you and I suppose that people do understand that as well. At the same time I have to say they do not have a chanse and need to go for the other domain name extensions

They were found for that. But now they are being used for other goals as well. So I wouldn't say in this way

I think it does matter, alot of people would prefer to use a company in their home country. For example I would probably choose a web design company in the US that uses a .com over a .uk web design company, but its up to you I am sure you will get plenty of business regardless, just realize it does add some limitation in my opinion.

as a company want to develop suffer internet,i think .com domain name is more suitable,afterall.as a fresh company,when you do some publicity ,people may remember your domain name firstly,a catchy domain name,then your product,or get information from your domain name directly.in the future ,you must try your best to let your company popular,so a outstanding domain name is important ,good luck!

If your business is local than it is good to have local domain. But it is also good to have the same .com variant. Then you can forward one of them to the other. If you have only local domain and somebody else .com variant, you can have situation where people who aren't aware of your extension type yourdomain.com in the address bar and go that other site.

It doesn't matter i think, it only indicate your country, tell your customers where you are. But if your company is a bigger one, you'd better choose .com

I think u should use .Com domain ,coz it will seem globally.
