I am in the process of getting starting on a tech blog with tutorials and reviews on tech.

Say if I went with a domain such as AskNate dot com (just for example), would I be able to sell it in the future?

For example, if my site got really big, would anyone want to buy it or would the personal name "nate" be a problem?

I think it is no problem your domain is sellable. big domain and domain with your name both is not a issue i issue is your domain is how long old and it is promoted or not.

Your name won't be a problem. It's pronounceable, it's brandable, it's similar to AskJeeves

Almost any domain could be sold. The only difference is PRICE you will be offered.

i have 2 domain with my own name..and 1 domain im buying from "close out" he he..i think its cool have our own domain for our blog/site. its cheap tho. godaddy selling some domain less than $1

If the Domain gets powerful enough someone will buy it....but you are better off getting keywords in the domain....so usatechblog.com or something along those lines would be better....all depends on what your keywords are.

You need to decide who are you going to be? Domainer or web master. If you are domainer chose the domain name and invistigate in it if you are sure that will be sold on the higher rates somewhere in the future. If you are web master you need to chose the domain name according to your project not because that name is cool name

Each domain name can be sold I believe. You need to be good in the sales and marketing and generate tons of ideas for the domain name

Its a good name, you may easily earn $xx for this name. simple and easy to remember.

Excellent point. You also need to figure what's more important to you currently but what might be more important to you down the road.

I don't see any reason why that domain won't be sellable. If it becomes too popular and you allot time to optimize it, you can even resell it to hundreds to even thousands of dollars.

No one would care about the name, only that it received traffic and income.

the name would be worth a certain amount mostly in its traffic and earning potential once developed. There are better names you could pick as far as brandables that would be worth more overall. Personally i do not like that sort of name that you picked. But ANY domain can be sold if it makes profit.

I think you would definitely be able to sell it. All domains are sell-able like many other people have mentioned. It's just about making it popular enough that someone else would want it.

Buddy selling big domain is not a problem at all, even if its a 1 word domain or 10 words domain or your name itself.


But making a domain a BIG is a problem.


People involved in blogging, designing needs very popular domain and they are ready to purchase it for high rates too. For this reasson they keeps on searching someone who sell OLD DOMAIN which are 2 or 3 years old. Becuase only 2 or 3 year old domain could be that BIG to attract 1k / day of visits.
