The domain name should be related to your web contents you were going to use as when people think of your website, they'll think of it by name. If your name is also your URL, they'll automatically know where to go.

Memorable, easily spelt and something you can tell people over the phone.

Well, that is assuming you intend to sell products or you want REAL visitors. If it's just a lead generator/MFA/affiliate ad "site" then anything will do.

Important stuff:
1. domain name extension, that would be really good for you to have .COM
2. domain name length - try to have as short as possible
3. domain name should vbe easy to remember

honestly it really depends on what you want to do with your domain name. Are you domaining aka buying a domain for pure investment? Are you buying a domain to develop a site? Is your site going to sell something? You can never go wrong with .com but in some cases .net and even .org can work well at least for development.

keyword rich names are always good as well!

if you are buying the domain only for a domainer investment stick with .com

Don't use confusing spelling. If your domain is targeted at a worldwide audience then stay away from words that are spelt differently throughout the world, such as words ending in ize(US)/ise(UK). This also applies to many words that have different meanings throughout the world. Some common English words are even offensive in other languages.

I believe that domain name should be memorable. People can remember that and if they liked your web site they will return there.
Do not try to include keywords - that will make domain name longer and less memorable and you will lose your time only

Memorable and relevant. Although I think those two almost go hand in hand.

Sometimes relevant is something what difficult to find and in this case just some short and memorable domain name would be the best choice.

We have to choose a simple and keyword relating to our niche and the domain must be memorable by anyone. A one word domain is always preferred.

For example, "google.com" is almost memorable by a kid too.. Similarly "yahoo" or any other one word domain would be much preferred rather than lengthy domains.
