Do you find domain parking to be valuable?
I've been thinking of going into the business of buying a bunch of domain names and just setting them up with domain parking.
Not sure if it's really worth it though.
Any advice/suggestions?

IMO and experience unless they have traffic before you park them, the earnings won't pay the reg fee.

I can confirm colbyt's assessment. PPC is very low these days unless you have highly contested keywords and you need tons of traffic to get some decent earnings.

PPC is good idea, but you will need
1. web site
2. development

With parking that is enough to have domain name with traffic but without any site to start earning

I don't think there's much money to be made in this unless the domain you get already has an established traffic base.

Not correct. Some domain names are really worth to be parked indeed. But there are not to many such domain names over there

I used to make a decent amount of money yearly with parking, but that was 7 + years ago. I dont think that is the best way to go about making revenue from a domain with traffic now a days. Best bet would be to drop a site on it and continue development with PPC ads on the site or actually selling something.

I have tried both parked.com and sedo.com sedo was by far better than parked as far as $$$, but parked lets you put outbound links etc on the parked pages.

I feel that parking is a big waste and you would be better off putting up a small site.

If you are going to buy domains just for type in type traffic you'd still make more with a small site. Most of those type in names will be generic .coms also and you would have to pay well for them imho.

Many parking companies allow you to add domains and they have no checking procedure. So crooks like this can add 100000s of dns to their parking ac in the hope that some of the real owners will use the parking service concerned. So they don’t own the dns but get the click revenue if the real owner has set nameservers correctly.

Park domains still earn if you add google adsense there. Park the domain for some months and it will get traffic.

If they are new domain names I think that doesn't matter they are parked domain names or not - you will never get ahead with such names. You need to develop them first.

Parking domains sucks, though, if you have hundreds of them it's better to park them so you can always get a few bucks to your pocket.

Just parking a domain and placing ads, expecting them to give some dollars every month, won't at all help you if you have a domain with no proper keywords, no type-in keywords etc.

If you have a domain like tfasdknsds.com and parked it, who would visit it? and why? There's no use of parking such domains. You should better park domains with dictionary keywords and which you are not able to develop, and don't want to sell them off.
For any domain, better give some time and develop a website, than park it for nothing.

Isn't there enough rubbish on the net without adding more?

Please don't, I hate finding parked pages, clicking the back button to go back to Google soon becomes the only thing people do with most of these parked domain pages!

For domainers, the people who park domains for a living, their real profit comes from selling the domain name. The longer they hold the name, the more valuable it's likely to become, especially if the parked domain gets reasonable traffic in spite of being content-thin. If they do manage to get good income, the selling price will soar!

I suppose they are parking domain names to cover registration fees, not for living. They sell domain names for living instead.
