Hi

What is the easiest web design software?

I don't have experience in web design, but I want to learn to build professional web pages. I know some html, but not much. Is there a cheap, easy to use and professional web design software that I could use easily without paying a lot? Am I asking for too much?

Thank you

The best design software should be combination of photoshop and dreamweaver. To me, both should cover all your web design needs.

I believe that photoshop and dreamweaver are expensive programs.

If i were you i would go with Notepad++ and gimp they are free and they will help you to build websites, well notepad++ will and gimp will help you make graphics and stuff like that.

Preferring dreamweaver, but I cannot say this is the easiest way to build your website.

There are companies offering pretty good sitebuilders included into the hosting accounts. As much experience I have such products as Wesitematic, or soholaunch builder are rathger simple, but having really good possibilities for site creation. Both offered by sibername, among those companies I operate with.

cindyfowler, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but you will never build professional pages using visual editors like Frontpage (or similar).

You must be very good in HTML in order to build high quality sites.

Photoshop and corel draw are the best designer tools. But in any case choice of certain tool will depend on the current task you have for your web site.

Bottom line is you need to learn to code by hand. Learn using notepad and then you can use dreamweaver or whatever to get your work done faster. You MUST learn to code without using an application first. If you don't, you'll never be able to troubleshoot problems....

I use Alley Code, Evrsoft First Page2006 (freeware and very very good but you get a nag screen when you start and exit), and coffeecup free. There are also predefined templates available to download where you just change the text their with your own and add your own images.

It would be worth it to invest in Dreamweaver and Photoshop, Both outstanding programs and make life easier in the end

Though justifying spending the money on a program like that may just depend on if you are looking into designing professionally or if you are just making a site for yourself.

with the release of Ubuntu 9.10 i was FINALLY able to make the full switch to Linux. Here i use Bluefish for editing, gFTP for uploading.

However i still prefer to use Dreamweaver as the editing and ftp is in one package, plus you can switch between code view and WYSIWYG view. It is just an awesome program, they have 30 days free trial.

But you could also try Crimson Editor (or any other free test highlighting editor) and then i highly recommend FireFTP an add on for Firefox for uploading.
