What are your thoughts on these services/domains?

I suppose they can be used for personal wed sites only. That is not recommended use such domain names for business web sites.

Using free services you run the risk of losing the site much more than paid services.

Also, without paying for the service, technically anything you create/store there doesnt belong to you.

.tk maybe? These were free some time ago, not sure if they are still free now.

Are those free domain names will be yours? Or belong to the domain name registration service provider?
That is very important if you are thinking about serious or maybe business web site.

There are a lot of such kind of domain names actually. But first of all such domain names are not interested for people and make your domain names less memorable

If you want to create a genuine website, it is just waste of time, because with a small fee you can buy a genuine domain

Although I would only recommend this site for advanced users, since the process of linking the name to your website is more harder than on co.cc/uni.cc/and .tk.
(Although if you ARE an advanced user, why are you using a free domain name?)

Don't ever use .tk... even for a personal site. It's so tacky and they randomly throw extra ads on your site from time to time.

And another free domain that I forgot to mention is cz.cc. The name is similar to co.cc but unlike co.cc, they allow the free domains to be used for commericial websites without requiring you to pay, and they allow two year registration. Although, they keep a WHOIS record for all the cz.cc domains, which could be good or bad depending on how you view it. (hate mail, death threats, etc...)

I have always wondered what .tk stands for because when I go to domain sites I'd never seen one. Now I know it's a free domain. But what does it stands for?

I would not recommend you host your business web site with that. That is not recommended. You will be able to lose this domain name easily.
